About/History
The Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical, a Tertiary, Level III ISO
Accredited, with a 450-bed hospital, is to position as a 600-bed Regional Multispecialty Medical
Center serving Central Luzon by 2024. In line with the vision of becoming a multispecialty
center, one of which is for having a renal care and transplant center, our late Dr. Nelson Cayco
spearheaded the establishment of the Urology training program.  

On January 2020, the Department of Surgery, Section of Urology was inaugurated and
approved as a Level I training institution. Since then, Dr. PJGMRMC Section of Urology has prospered and improved, procuring state-of-the-art instruments and offering minimally invasive surgery and endourology for service patients. The Section currently has four Urology residents and four active Consultants and has pioneered to be the 1st accredited training program in Urology north of NCR. Currently, the Section holds a Level II accreditation from the Philippine

Board of Urology last January 2022.
The Dr. PJGMRMC Section of Urology continues to strive to be the foremost referral center in urology in Central Luzon and nearby provinces.

Offers/Training Specifications
The Dr. PJGMRMC Urology Residency Training Program is created to equip the resident with the expertise in performing diagnostic and surgical procedures, the knowledge and abilities needed to identify and treat all urologic diseases and complications, and the ability to
diagnose and treat patients effectively. 

The Urology Training Program shall be established at the Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center in Cabanatuan City. It is a tertiary hospital of the Department of Health, Region III. It has a total bed capacity of 600, 20 of which is allotted to the Section of
Urology.

The training program shall be a four-year course, and the academic year shall start on January 1 of each year. The candidate must have finished at least two years of Residency training in General Surgery in an accredited program. The admission to the first-year residency
and the subsequent promotion to the other level shall be governed by the admission and promotion rules. After completing the Chief Residency, he shall be considered to have satisfactorily undergone training in urology and, therefore, practice as Urologist in the
The Philippines.
