Mission

To produce high-quality endourologists who will serve as mentors and trainers for other urologists not only at NKTI but around the entire country.

To increase the pool of laparoscopic donor surgeons in the country in order to propagate its practice and maximize its utilization in all areas where kidney transplantation is being performed.

To fulfill the mandate of NKTI on quality patient care, excellent training and continuing research.

Description of the Program

The Fellowship Program at the NKTI is the first comprehensive fellowship program in Laparoscopy and Endourology in the country. This two-year clinical program is designed to provide the fellow with practical knowledge of the most up-to-date methods of diagnosing and treating all types and stages of urologic diseases. The fellow will be trained in a broad spectrum of Endourologic and Minimally Invasive Surgical procedures including but not limited to rigid and flexible ureteroscopy, retrograde intrarenal surgery, percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL), laparoscopic kidney, prostate, & bladder surgery, needle ablative therapies as well as robotic surgery.  

At the end of the training program, the fellow is expected to be highly skilled and proficient in all aspects of endourologic procedures, laparoscopic donor nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy, radical prostatectomy, radical cystectomy, and reconstructive urological procedures.

Research is an integral part of the Institute and the Department. The fellow is required to author research projects related to minimally invasive urology which is to be presented at the World Congress of Endourology or other local or international meetings. He is also encouraged to publish his research in the Philippine Journal of Urology or any other peer-reviewed journal.

After reviewing its core curriculum, this program was duly recognized by the Philippine Endourological Society (PES).

We have a current fellow in progress. The next batch of applicants will be entertained in August 2021 for January 2022 to December 2023 program.
